George and Steven lead a design team through a complex design process which included 4 Housing Associations and various standards of HfVN housing.
The 4 stakeholders, Maryhill Housing Association, Horizon Housing
Homeslessness Partnership and Glasgow Centre for Inclusive Living all had specific end user requirements which had to be implemented into the design process. The development consisted of various accommodation types from 4 storey flats, 2 storey cottage flat and terraced houses.
Horizon Housing Association were providing specific wheelchair units within the
development and these had to be integrated into the design and were not to read differently to the rest of the development from the outside. A number of Stage 2 adaptations were also to be included as various tenants were identified.
One property for Glasgow Centre for Inclusive Living was also to be designed as a large 5 bedroom family home for an end user with very specific needs. The house was to have the future flexibility to split into two smaller units at a later date and this was achieved by constructing the house with a full fire separating floor and foundations for a new stair to split the property into cottage flats with minimal building works.
Project Commenced in December 2007 and Completed July 2010
