George Buchanan Architects were commissioned by Bellway Homes to act as consultant Architects for the development of 49 Residential Units for of Fife Council Housing Services to provide Housing for Varying needs within the Cowdenbeath area.
Included in the scheme is a mix of Wheelchair accessible units, Specific needs, Elderly Amenity and general needs all complying with Housing for Varying Needs requirements and Fife Council Housing Services Design Guides.
We were employed under a framework agreement to review existing house types to ensure compliance with all of the relevant standards and enhance the designs to both be compliant with Building Regulations, HfVN & Fife Council Design guide.
The £3.5M project was developed and constructed by Bellway Homes, then sold back to Fife Council upon completion.
The main purpose of the development was to provide Housing Association stock for Fife Council which was constructed & finished in similar style and materials to the larger development by Bellway Homes so that private & public housing were not distinguishable from each other.
The project commenced in May 2014 and achieved successful completion July 2015
