A feasibility study for a new, bespoke facility for Thorniewood Credit Union in Viewpark, North Lanarkshire.
The immediate environs of the building, together with the nature of the facility, gave rise to issues of durability, security and vandalism which we were keen to address through the use of quality, robust materials.
A simple, elegant brick box was proposed with subtle detailing and punched openings. The two-storey, contemporary form relates to the residential context in which the building sits.
Internally a double height volume signified the main public space, with ancillary accommodation positioned behind the public reception area. A boardroom was situated adjacent the public reception area to provide much needed space for meetings and training.
